It is recommended to clean your skimmer basket at least once a week, or more frequently if your pool is surrounded by trees or other vegetation that can shed leaves and debris into the water .
A dirty skimmer basket can cause the pump to work harder, which can lead to increased energy consumption and higher electricity bills . To clean the basket, turn off the pump and remove the skimmer lid.
Then, lift out the basket and empty its contents into a trash can or compost bin. Rinse the basket with a garden hose and replace it in the skimmer. Finally, turn on the pump and check for proper water flow .
